Co-hare

Co-hare RIP 4 May 2012
In memory of a great hasher and friend, Lynn Morrison, who sadly passed away on May 5th.

We will all miss you but we will certainly not forget you.

Rest in peace, Co-hare.

Another hash year comes to an end…

Just one more run to go before the Southside AGM on Saturday May 19th, which starts at 2pm, other details not yet available but if tradition is observed it’ll be a junk to an island in the South China Sea, followed by a run, circle, naming of new committee, and a semi-chaotic meal somewhere.  All Royal Gentlemen are called upon to be there, others need not apply!  If you’re planning (or thinking about planning) to be there, full details (and how to participate) are here.

UPDATE: OK, so tradition it turns out is not being observed… pleading a case of Hash poverty, instead of a junk we have a coach trip; so hopefully we’re not heading towards any island in the SC Sea, unless it’s got a road connection.

Celebrate Wales’ Triple Crown-winning defeat of the English…

or moan about that final “try” (let’s face it, they’d never have converted it anyway!)… either way, Hopeless & the Scots will be wearing red and gloating at this week’s run (1st March), also coinciding with St David’s Day, in the rural (but not so Welsh) enclave we know as DaiSai  Kung.  Special later start (7.15) to give those of us who are not ET time to get there.  Meet in the comedy location of Wan King Path.  Full info via Our Next Run as usual.

Off to distant lands…

No, not the upcoming mega-tour to Koh Samui, but this week’s run… [26th Jan]  we’re off to the far flung pastures of Tsuen Wan West.  Not that it’s actually very far as the crow flies, but the crow (and ET) don’t have to rely on public transport, which it turns out isn’t optimal for those not living close to, well, Tsuen Wan West!  Anyway, there’s a selection of ways to get there, so view it as a special Treasure Hunt run, the hunt being to find the start.  Doubtless we shall not be there very often, but it isn’t actually that tough to get there, so save the hare from the ignominy of the smallest turnout since the 3 runners at Ice Dancer’s Tsing Yi “event” and celebrate what may well be the coldest run this year.

New Year’s Day Family Run

New Year’s Day sees the Southside’s traditional Family Run from Repulse Bay.  Start from the “concrete island” on the beach just past the lifeguard stand.  Runners (& walkers) off at 2pm, mince pies & mulled wine after the run (plus beer & softies of course).

All hashers and visitors welcome, cost HK$60 men / HK$30 ladies / kids free.

After Christmas…

Hope you had a good Christmas?  Now it’s time to work off a little of the turkey & Christmas pud (or whatever variety of foodstuffs you indulged in) not to mention (but I will) the al-co-hol.  Put things back on track somewhat before New Year with an easily accessible run on Thursday (29th Dec) from Tai Wo St Playground, Wanchai (details here) then join us on New Year’s Day for the traditional Repulsive Repulse Bay family run.  More details on that to follow…

Smokeless Cole Memorial Run 8th Dec 2011

The lead-up to Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the Southside Treasure Hunt aka pub crawl aka Smokeless Cole Memorial Run. Find your way around with picture clues, solve the crossword clues on the T-shirt, collect the treasure, and of course, enjoy a fine beverage of the hare’s choosing at each establishment along the route! Plus a bite to eat at some point…

No serious running required (no real change there!), no running kit required, no need for showers (unless you go seriously astray!)

HK$300 all-in, please bring cash so we can buy the drinks!  Meet at The Wanch at (or before) 6.30pm for the first beer & free snacks…

The Big Pink 4 – 1st Dec 2011

I’m struggling to remember the original concept of this run (although unfortunately I’m unable to block out the images of the first Big Pink T-shirt, which has to be one of the most offensive (and not in a good way!) items of stash I’ve had the pleasure of not wearing) but anyway… for the 4th time, HaggisHumper’s Live hare run, complete with winter stash (i.e. long-sleeved T-shirt, HK$100 for autopayers, HK$140 for visitors), and haggis and “veggie haggis” On On at the Canny Man.  So come on down for your neeps-&-tatties, whisky and fingers-crossed the stash is wearable!

Thanksgiving Special Run – 24th Nov 2011

Following last week’s stunning turnout at Tsing Yi, we’re hoping for better things this week with Camel’s Thanksgiving Special. A central-ish location (Wanchai Gap Playground), reasonably simple/short run promised, followed by dinner at the Queen Vic.  And you don’t even have to run if that’s too much trouble, just meet us for the meal!  Full info here.
